Maruti was started in 1981 by then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi with 50% Government share and 50% Japan's Suzuki. Maruti 800 was successful due to its Reliability, Economy, wide service network and low maintenance cost. They now offer driving courses with their 'Maruti Driving School'.
Maruti Started Driving School a few years ago to provide world class driving school to Indians. Separete courses are available namely Learner's Course, Advanced Course and Refresher Course. Each Course Includes Theoritical Training, Practical Training and Simulator.
Learners Course:
It is a basic course in driving. The course has been specially formulated for beginners with a curriculum that is an ideal mix of theoretical and practical training. The course spans over a period of 21 Sessions spread over 21 days to one month. Course Duration – 20 hrs
Course Structure:
7 Hours Theory, 3 Hours of Simulator Training and 10 Hours of Practical Training.
20 Minutes Vehicle Controls & Mechanisms including Hand Controls, Foot Controls and Visual Controls. 30 minutes of Beginning to Driving including Moving off, stopping, Steering Holding.
30 minutes of A Good Road user including Duties and qualities of good road user, Importance of attitude & Behaviour.
45 minutes of Road signs&Markings includig Imporatnce of road signs, Types of road signs, hand signals, road markings, Traffic lights, Hand signals of traffic constable.
45 minutes of Rules of the Road including lane discipline/lane changing, overtaking, turning, roundabouts, inersections, Major and minor roads, Right of way, Reversing and parking.
45 minutes on Accidents including Causes of Accidents, Drunken Driving, Accident Case Studies, Responsibilities During Accidents and First aid.
1 Hour and 15 minutes on 'Safe Driving Practices' including MSM & PSL techniques, Safe distance, Defensive driving, use of bye pass & Fly overs, Emergenc handling techniques, Driving n difficult conditions.
15 minutes on 'Laws & Driving' including Important sections of motor vehicle act 1988. Some offences and penalties, Speed regulations on roads, Windscreen visibility.
1 Hour and 15 minutes on 'Know your Vehicle' including Introduction of automobile engines, Working principle of systems.
30 minutes on 'Interactive Case Studies' including Driving stories and case studies.
